Sign Up to Receive FANUC Support for the Amazon Picking Challenge

FANUC America recently became a robot sponsor of the first Amazon Picking Challenge, to be held in conjunction with the ICRA 2015 tradeshow May 26-30 in Seattle, WA.

Amazon is looking for an automated solution for picking products from shelves. This competition will challenge entrants to build their own robot hardware and software that can attempt simplified versions of the general task of picking items. The robots will be presented with a stationary lightly populated inventory shelf and be asked to pick a subset of the products and put them on a table. The challenge combines object recognition, pose recognition, grasp planning, compliant manipulation, motion planning, task planning, task execution, and error detection and recovery. The robots will be scored by how many items are picked in a fixed amount of time. Participants will be encouraged to share and disseminate their approach to improve future challenge results and industrial implementations. Amazon will award $26,000 in prizes.

We invite you to consider using our products to enter the Amazon Picking Challenge. FANUC will provide a consignment robot, software and technical support at your location, and at the ICRA show. Entrants will be considered based on the information detailed in the form below.

We encourage your participation in the Amazon Picking Challenge. If you are interested, please fill out the form below.
We would appreciate your response by Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015.
