Story

Seibel Modern, based in Lancaster, NY has been a leading supplier of industrial and custom welding services for over 75 years.

A major contract to weld fencing for a large bridge project prompted Seibel Modern to select FANUC’s Authorized System Integrator Properly Works to provide an automation solution to help them weld over three miles of fencing.

Initially various processes worked independently, which fell short of efficiency goals. Properly Works brought all the various operations together into a safe and streamlined operation. System implementation was seamless, and Seibel Modern’s employees quickly learned how to operate the CRX-10iA/L welding cobot and other equipment.

Property Works also integrated a graphically illustrated flagging system which was instrumental in keeping production on schedule. The flagging system shows an image of the actual fence and highlights each completed weld. If there are any issues related to a weld such as a non-start or the welding wire getting stuck, the operator can simply unflag the weld, and the robot will return to that location and redo that weld.

A key benefit of the automated solution is that touch-up work has been reduced by 50%, which is a huge time saver. In addition, Properly Works personnel have gone above and beyond in terms of customer support and Seibel Modern plans to continue the relationship on future automation projects.
