Robot Evaluation Services
FANUC America’ robot evaluation service includes a thorough examination to determine the condition of the robot(s). We identify any areas that do not meet original factory specifications using a multitude of factory authorized tests. FANUC America will provide an updated proposal outlining the recommended repairs and maintenance services required to bring the robot back to OEM specifications.
Robot Evaluation Service consists of:
- Visual inspection of the robot and controller for missing or non-conforming components
- Power up the robot to confirm general functionality
- Verify of teach pendant functionality
- Document the software version and options for availability of upgrades
- Manually jog the robot through the allowable range of motion, noting any abnormalities
- Inspect the motor brakes for excessive drop
- Exercise the robot for a minimum of 10 hours
- Perform backlash tests, record values
- Conduct repeatability tests, record values
- Compare all test results to the original factory specifications, document discrepancy’s
- Provide an evaluation summary report

Re-Certification Service
The re-certification service uses the evaluation results to bring your robot back to OEM specifications. The service includes complete disassembly of each axes or assemblies that did not pass the tests performed during the robot evaluation. The intent of this process is to further identify any non-conforming items which may otherwise be difficult to detect. The re-certification service will correct all non-conformities identified. Testing and validation is performed to ensure that the robot(s) meet original factory specifications.
Re-Certification Service consists of four processes:
- Inspection
- Mechanical Unit and/or controller repairs
- Maintenance
- Test & Validation
The exclusive process will bring your robot back to original factory specifications using the latest engineering information and processes available only from FANUC America. This robot reapplication service is backed by the industry’s best warranty*.
*Robots that undergo the robot reapplication service process including all repairs deemed necessary by FANUC America include a full, one-year, parts and labor warranty. Any services conducted short of the outlined robot reapplication service will receive a standard 1 year parts and labor on only the parts replaced by FANUC America.

Robot Restoration Services
This service is recommended for robots that have been in production for over 31,000 hours. This service would consist of a complete overhaul of the robot which entails replacement of the wrist, cable set, all motors, and all RVs. FANUC America does not generally recommend a complete overhaul due to the prohibitive cost. The robot restoration service will bring the robot back to FANUC factory standard specifications and once completed will result in a full one-year robot warranty.
Repurposing Services
Sometimes the application you purchased the robot for changes. Instead of purchasing a new robot, let our FANUC Certified Robot Reapplication repurpose it, by converting hardware and or software the robot to meet your new application needs. We will need the F# of the robot and if possible the F# of a robot that already has the desired hardware and software.
Onsite Evaluation and Refurbishment Services
FANUC offers on site evaluations and refurbishments for customers that do not have the option to send their robots to FANUC due to production needs or accessibility.
Evaluations:
FANUC America’s onsite evaluation services are similar to what is included with our services we provide at our facility. A thorough examination to determine the condition of the robot(s). We identify any areas that do not meet original factory specifications using a multitude of authorized tests. FANUC America will provide an proposal outlining the recommended repairs and maintenance services required to bring the robot back to OEM specifications.
Onsite Evaluations differences:
- Exercise the robot for a minimum of 10 hours (Robots are typically evaluated at end of production)
- Backlash tests will be performed when accessible due to environment
- Repeatability tests are excluded
Refurbishments:
FANUC America will refurbish your robots based on evaluation results, we will bring you robots back to OEM standards to improve/maintain quality and uptime. For example, customers may need replace wear items such as cables and paint lines that route through robot catracks. The work can be completed during production downtime windows such as weekends and holidays. FANUC has a dedicated team that will work with you to develop an action plan based on your available downtimes.
*Robot refurbishment service will receive a standard 1 year parts and labor warranty on all parts replaced by FANUC America.
Customization Services
FANUC offers several robot options that can be purchased with the initial robot purchase or they can be purchased aftermarket and can be installed on your robot by our Certified Robot Reapplication technicians. These options that weren’t originally purchased with the robot, such as iRVision enhance your robots capability and can improve the overall application.
