Course Overview:
This course covers the fundamentals of the KAREL programming language. Instruction includes concepts that explain fundamental programming techniques using RoboGuide to create and update TPP as well as KAREL programs. The course is focused on the interpretation of existing code and development of simple application programs.
Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
-Create and Update TPP programs
-Create and Update KAREL programs
-Debug, compile and load a KAREL file
-Test and run KAREL and teach pendant programs in RoboGuide
Concepts covered in this course include language syntax, branching constructs, system variables, simple KAREL logic, TPP motion control, I/O and recommended safety procedures.
Audience: This course is intended for programmers who have a good understanding of TPP programming and HandlingPRO/RoboGuide. Such as electricians, technicians and operators, who install, repair, test and maintain the R-30iB Controller.
Prerequisites: Completion of a live, FANUC instructor led Operation and Programming course (such as HandlingTool, ArcTool, SpotTool). Completion of an online eLearn Operation and Programming course will not meet this Operation and Programming prerequisite. RoboGuide/HandlingPRO class, or eLearn, is also required. Prior programming experience on a high-level language such as “C” or PASCAL may be helpful.
***This KAREL class requires that students bring their laptop with ROBOGUIDE software already loaded. Please ensure the software is loaded prior to the first day of class.***
