FANUC Setup, Programming & Turning

Course Description

Target Audience: This course is intended for Customers tasked with Manufacturing/Process engineering, Programming, or manual Lathe operation of any experience level looking to develop a better understanding of G-Code programming and Turning processes. Unlike the eLearn version of this course, the Instructor-Led version will incorporate a FANUC CNC connected to a PC with 3D machine visualization software to increase the efficiency of the part development process. [Other version available: eLearn]

Prerequisites: Successful completion of either the FANUC Usage and Operations eLearn course or the FANUC Usage and Maintenance course (Instructor-Led, Onsite, Virtual, or eLearn). Students who have attended a prerequisite class more than four years in the past are required to pass a preparatory test prior to attending the class.

Requirements:

  • Dress Code - Appropriate business casual attire is required to attend any class at FANUC training facilities. No shorts, leggings, tank tops, or open-toe shoes are permitted.
  • Learning Management System (LMS) access - Students must be able to log into the LMS site, academy.fanucamerica.com, while in class, to access the Pre-test, Post-test, and Course survey.

Course Objectives:

  • Understanding FANUC CNC navigation and features
  • Utilizing positioning and cutting commands to create a Part program
  • Calculating Feedrates and Spindle speeds
  • Properly setting up Work coordinates and Tool offsets
  • Using advanced G-Code commands and Canned cycles to optimize a Part program

Course Length: 4-days (The course consists of classroom lectures and exercises where several Part programs will be created from engineering drawings and, at the end of the course, a specific part will be turned on a FANUC-controlled Lathe. In addition to lab exercises, a pre-test and post-test are used to measure mastery of the objectives.)
