EtherNet/IP Safety

The FANUC EtherNet/IP Safety provides certified, safety communication between the robot controller and external safety controllers using standard industrial Ethernet networks. Built on the CIP Safety protocol, it ensures reliable, deterministic transmission of safety-critical signals while maintaining compliance with applicable international safety standards. This enables safe and efficient coordination of safety functions without compromising network performance.

By integrating safe I/O, motion monitoring, and network-based safety signals, EtherNet/IP Safety significantly simplifies system architecture. EtherNet/IP Adapter

By supporting direct exchange of I/O data, this option eliminates the need for additional gateways or hardware, simplifying overall system design and reducing integration effort.

The adapter provides flexible and scalable support for multiple I/O types, including digital I/O, group I/O, User Operator Panel (UOP) signals, and analog I/O. This versatility allows system designers to efficiently coordinate robot motion, I/O signals, status feedback, and process control within complex automated cells. Data mapping can be tailored to meet application-specific requirements, supporting both simple and advanced control architectures.

By allowing the robot to operate as a network scanner, or master, it can directly supervise connected devices and exchange data without relying solely on an external PLC for coordination.

This option supports fast, deterministic data exchange, making it ideal for applications that require tightly synchronized operation, real‑time feedback, and responsive control. The scanner functionality expands the robot’s role within the automation cell, enabling greater flexibility, reduced system latency, and simplified network architecture.
