4D Graphics

FANUC 4D Graphics enhanced the capability of theteach pendant with a dynamic, real‑time visualization of robot motion and process data directly within the workcell environment. It overlays critical information — such as DCS zones, programmed paths, and robot position — onto a 3D robot model, giving operators immediate context and improved situational awareness. Arc Production Monitor

Arc Production Monitor extends a FANUC ArcTool system with built-in connectivity to Lincoln Electric Power Wave® welding power supplies and the CheckPoint™ cloud monitoring platform. When enabled, it allows the robot to exchange weld process data with Lincoln’s Production Monitoring™ system, providing real-time visibility, traceability, and process control for each weld cycle.

This option adds teach pendant control and data integration features, including weld profile selection and part serial number assignment. It also supports error handling, allowing the robot to respond when weld parameters exceed defined limits (such as voltage, current, or wire feed speed), helping flag process issues as they occur.

This feature helps the robot controller become a more integral part of the welding process control system — simplifying setup, improving visibility into weld performance, and enabling data-driven process optimization.

Arc TorchMate

FANUC TorchMate provides a utility to automatically touchup the TCP at the tip of the welding wire. The utility works in conjunction with a hardware block that is used a reference point. The robot will touch the block in two known locations and sense contact of the welding wire thru electrical continuity. This process can be automatically executed during robot operation thru an integrated KAREL function. ArcTorchMate maintains weld accuracy by automatically compensating tool center point changes caused by torch wear or replacement. This reduces manual retouching and helps preserve weld quality in both single robot and coordinated multi-robot systems.

ArcTool

FANUC ArcTool provides precise control of the robot’s weld path, allowing it to follow exact trajectories along joints, seams, and complex geometries. It ensures smooth, continuous motion that is critical for high-quality welds, maintaining consistent speed, orientation, and positioning throughout the process so that the weld bead remains uniform.
In addition to motion control, ArcTool coordinates the welding process itself with the robot’s movement. It manages signals for arc start and stop, wire feed, and welding parameters such as voltage and current. This tight synchronization ensures that the welding arc engages and disengages at exactly the right moments, preventing defects and improving overall weld quality.
ArcTool can also incorporate touch sensing capabilities, where the robot uses the welding wire to detect the actual position of a part before welding begins. This allows it to compensate for part-to-part variation or fixture inconsistencies, automatically adjusting the weld path to maintain accuracy despite minor misalignments.
To enhance weld quality, ArcTool includes programmable weaving and weld patterns such as zig-zag, triangular, or circular motions. These patterns can be customized in terms of width, frequency, and dwell time, helping control bead shape, penetration, and heat distribution across the joint.
For thicker materials, ArcTool supports multi-pass welding, enabling the robot to perform layered welds. Each pass can be automatically offset and adjusted, ensuring proper buildup and strength while maintaining consistent spacing between layers.
ArcTool can also support advanced tracking methods such as Through-Arc Seam Tracking (TAST), which uses real-time feedback from the welding current to detect and follow the joint as it shifts during the process. This allows the robot to make continuous adjustments to its path, keeping the weld centered even when conditions change.
Finally, ArcTool includes features like crater fill and burnback control, which improve how the weld is finished. These functions help prevent defects such as craters or excess wire sticking by carefully controlling how the arc is terminated, resulting in cleaner, more reliable weld endpoints.

ASCII Program Loader

ASCII Program Loader allows for the automatic compilation of human-readable robot programs that have been created offline. This option can be used by applications that automatically generate custom paths to be transferred to the robot.

Auto Backward Exit

Auto Backward Exit allows the robot to move backwards while retracing its motion path after a fault has occurred. This simplifies getting the robot out of tight spaces after a fault has occurred that requires inspection of the robot, tool, or part. All this can occur without manual intervention and jogging.
