CNC Gear Hobbing
CNC, or computer numerical control, gear hobbing allows for extremely fast and accurate production of gears, splines and sprockets. Gear hobbing involves mounting a workpiece on a spindle that is connected to a motor, which rotates the part at a high speed, while a specialized cutting tool – called a hob – also rotates to cut gear teeth into the part.
